Jan. 1, 2011.
There was a party in my bed last night and I don’t even remember it. Well, it looks as if there was a party in my bed. I greeted the New Year by waking up this morning with confetti scattered on my pillow and blankets. It appeared someone was having a good time under my sheets and they forgot to wake me. Sad to say, it was only the remnants of a pretty lame News Year’s Eve celebration last night at the Family Arena. I went to dance in the New Year with my favorite dance band, Dr. Zhivegas. Spent $31 for a ticket. Got there at 9 p.m. only to find out there were hardly any people there and the opening band was a country band. Why in the world would St. Louis’ top funk and dance band have a country and western band open for them, makes me think someone in Dr. Zhivegas needs to see Dr. Zsychiatry. So I painfully endure country music for an hour. (To give credit, where credit is due, the band itself, Rough Ryders, sounded pretty good, if you like that kind of music) Oh, did I mention there were kids there??? It was a family event at the family arena. I’m all for family events but at a concert/dance party where adults are going to get drunk and hammered to celebrate the New Year?
Seriously, whoever organized that entire event, has no entertainment clue whatsoever. I also think one of the reason for the low turn out was everyone knows how costly the prices of drinks are at venues like the Family Arena. I saw a sign and all the bottles of beer were $6 each, I can’t imagine how much mixed drinks were. I don’t drink alcohol so I bought a soda. $5 for a bottle of Pepsi!!! Plus the $1 tip. $6 bucks for a non-alcoholic drink!!!
I walked by a group of cops standing there and looked at them seriously and said “Officers, I was just robbed.” They gave me a look that said, “What happened?” I told them I just paid $6 for a bottle of Pepsi. They laughed.
Dr. Zhivegas finally came on at 10 p.m. (their usual time at clubs) and they played non-stop til midnight. Thank God, I ran into an old friend who was with a friend, they were two of what appeared to be the only dozen or so single women there. We danced the entire night and had a blast...well...except for when someone on the dance floor farted. It smelled so bad we had to move to the other end of the floor. Why do people do things like that? Anyway, midnight rolled around and the band stop playing and they gave horns, party hats and glasses of champagne out. We counted down with a live TV stream, projected on a big screen. When midnight struck, we toasted and hugged, notice I said hugged. No New Year’s kiss this year:( There were two confetti canons shooting confetti all over the place. It was awesome!!! The kids were rolling around in a sea of confetti filling the floor. I seriously wanted to join them; they looked like they were having more fun then everyone else.
Dr. Zhivegas then played a couple more songs and ended the show at 12;15 a.m. WTF!!!
It was like Frankie and band was saying, “OK, midnight’s over we’re done have a great night.” By 12:30 security was telling everyone to head to the exits. The only thing I could think as I was leaving was I could have went to a club down here on Main St and spent $10 and had a waaay better time and dance a lot longer.
So much for NYE 2010. Came home, checked my Facebook page and was in bed with stole away confetti pieces down my t-shirt by 1 a.m.
Now the New Year is here! A day of new beginnings. I like the new year, it gives me a chance to start fresh on things. Set some goals, make some resolutions. For the past month I’ve been working, pondering and formulating ideas on how to start the new year. At the top of my list is a blog. I’ve never really focused on maintaining a blog. I’ve started some but never really followed through. This year is going to be different!! I was just going to list my resolutions for 2011 but since I’m the world’s Greatest Creatist, I thought I’d create a New Year’s resolution poem instead. Hope you enjoy it and I also hope some of these same resolutions are on your list.
Please subscribe to my blog and tell other’s about it...also hold me accountable...not only to keeping this blog up but by following through with everything I’ve resolved to do in...
My New Year’s Resolutions
By Speegg
January 1, 2011
Today is January 1st
The beginning of a brand New Year
I resolve to show more Love and Peace
Kindness and lots of Cheer
May my Thoughts, Choices and Actions
Be filled with Wisdom, Courage and Light
And when life tries to beat me down
May I never give up the fight
Let me be a mirror of God
Reflecting Truth and Forgiveness all year long
Let me exercise my Mind, Body and Soul daily
Striving to make each healthy and strong
I want to teach humanity my secret to Happiness
And decrease the population’s pain and misery
Love God, Love Others and Love Yourself
And make your life Drug, Alcohol and Tobacco Free
I’d like to give to those who have nothing
Comfort those who grieve
Bring a smile and laughter to the depressed
And give the weary some relief
I resolve to stop being a slave to the $
Quit “working” at a fevered pace
Follow my passion of using my words, creativity and talent
To make this world a better place
And while I’m writing these resolutions
I might as well go over the top
There are a couple other things I'd love to do
Before my pen (and heart) comes to a stop
God, If I could heal the sick and raise the dead
How awesome that would be!
Performing miracles to the ends of the Earth
Making the lame to walk and the blind to see
Then at last when the year is faded and old
And I look back in pondered review
I’ll know the world and I will both be improved
Because my resolutions came true
love and peace,
-speegg

That's Awesome Harry!! I hope all your dreams and wishes come true!!
